Worcester, MA EPA Conducted a Phase II ESA at a former industrial facility. Multiple, co-mingled plumes were identified both on and off the site. A Phase II ESA that satisfied the MCP requirements for an MCP Phase II CSA and a Phase II RAP were completed for the site.
 2009
Holyoke, MA EPA  The site is a former National Guard Firing Range. High levels of lead have been detected in soil and in river sediment. Surficial soil, sediment, groundwater and surface water samples were collected and analyzed for total lead to fill in previously defined data gaps. Using the newly acquired and historical data, a Method 3 Risk Characterization was prepared to determine the risk the human health and the environment for potential future uses of the property. The report identified the areas of the site that would need Institutional Controls to maintain a condition of no risk for future uses.

Ludlow, MA EPA This 151-acre site is located at the site of a former Jute manufacturing plant, which was active from the mid-1800s until the 1960’s. AES conducted an AAI and ASTM Phase I ESA which identified over 35 RECs. Known releases are associated with PCBs and petroleum storage. Suspected or potential releases include: potentially abandoned underground storage tanks, hazardous waste disposal, drum disposal, surficial soil impact from light industrial operations, and numerous undocumented floor drains. A FTWP and Site Specific QAPP were submitted to the USEPA for review and approval. Phase II field work included the advancement of test pits, soil borings, and groundwater monitoring wells was performed. A Phase II ESA report was prepared summarizing the findings and identifying 15 areas that require further investigation and/or cleanup.

Allentown, PA EPA AES was tasked by EPA to conduct Targeted Brownfields Assessment activities at the Former Allentown State Hospital located in Allentown, PA. The EPA requested site assessment services in order to further determine the types and general extent of contamination on the site and develop potential cleanup alternatives and associated cost estimates. Based on the document review, AES prepared a SAP and Site Specific Quality Assurance Project Plan (QAPP) that documented a planned subsurface investigation. Field investigation activities included test pits, soil borings, monitoring well installations, and the collection of soil and groundwater samples. AES prepared a Targeted Brownfields Assessment Report which documented the investigation activities and findings, and presented recommendations regarding future delineation of the site.

Brockton, MA Payette AES was contracted to provide NEPA environmental assessment services for the construction of a new Spinal Cord Injury facility at the VA’s Brockton, MA campus. The project involved the construction of a new building and major renovations/additions to two existing buildings. AES prepared a NEPA Environmental Assessment report summarizing the potential environmental effects of the action on the human environment.
